My brother and Emilie asked me to make his grooms cake for the wedding when they first got engaged... while I was trying to figure out how in the world I would be able to do that without my kitchen since the wedding was in Round Rock, they were blessed with the wonderful gift of a cake from an awesome bakery (pictures to come) and I was off the hook for the big cake.
But, you know I love to bake - so, instead I made the cakes for the rehearsal dinner! Here I am after I added the finishing touches to the cake that traveled on it's side the whole way from Humble - needless to say, it came together so much better than I could have planned! We dropped those off at the restaurant and then headed to the church for the rehearsal.
The bridesmaids!
The groomsmen!
And the special guests - bride and groom!Aunt Debbie, Unlce Brian, Great Aunt Louise, and Maw Maw - patiently watching and waiting for dinner!
Awe, the Diehl men!
After we practiced our wedding roles, we headed to the Main Street Grill (in downtown Round Rock) for our wonderful dinner.
Here we are with the happy, soon-to-be-married couple - in our "prom pose"!
A great family picture below - my parents, Emilie's parents, her sister Mary (in from Germany), and Ryan and Emilie!
Here is Ryan with our cousin Seth and his wife Katie!
Here I am with my newest friend Christine - I'm giving her a pass, even though she goes to that school with that really ugly burnt oragne color, because she is so awesome!
At the rehersal dinner, we surprised Emilie with a special touch. August was a really major month for her - not only was she going to get married, but she was graduating from Texas A&M - on the day before her wedding! So, I brought my graduation cap and we played the graduation song to celebrate and acknowledge her big accomplishment. It was a great touch and she loved it!
Here I am with the couple - right before we cut up my cakes.
